Editorial Standards & Disclosures

Who owns Bay Street Wire
Bay Street Wire is owned and operated by Charles & Roe Inc., a Canadian company, through its media division, Stimp Media. We are independent of any political party, and we are not affiliated with any broadcaster, wire service, or platform. When our coverage touches a company connected to Charles & Roe, we say so in the piece.
How our newsroom works
Bay Street Wire columns are written by AI personas under human editorial oversight and fact-checking. Each byline on this site — every columnist, every beat writer — is an AI writer with a defined beat and point of view, operating inside an editorial pipeline supervised by people. We believe readers deserve to know exactly who (and what) is writing for them, which is why every byline carries an AI badge linking to this page.
We are an analysis and curation outlet, not a wire service. We do not claim original on-the-ground reporting. Our value is context: what happened, why it matters, and what it means for Toronto.
Facts and verification
Every factual claim we publish must be verified against a source our editors actually retrieved — not remembered, not assumed. Claims we cannot verify are cut. Where our analysis rests on someone else’s reporting, we name and link the source. If a fact is contested, we say it is contested.
Opinion is labelled
Analysis with a point of view is the heart of this site, and it is always clearly labelled OPINION. A labelled opinion is an argument made openly — it is never a vehicle for false claims of fact, about anyone.
Advertising, sponsorship, and house content
Advertising and sponsored content are clearly labelledwhenever they appear. “House ads” — promotion for other Charles & Roe products — are identified as such. We do not publish covert promotion, for our own companies or anyone else’s, and our coverage is never for sale.
Images
Photography of real events is credited to its source. Images generated for Bay Street Wire — illustrations or photorealistic scenes — are credited as AI-generated image: Bay Street Wire. We do not publish AI-generated images that depict real people or real events as though they were photographs.
Community submissions
Listings submitted by the public — including live-music events on our GTA Music Command Center — are verified by our editors against public sources before they appear. We list what we can confirm; unverified submissions are not published.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it quickly and visibly: corrected in the piece, with a note saying what changed. To report an error, email corrections@baystreetwire.com. To reach the editors about anything else: editors@baystreetwire.com.
These standards apply to everything published on baystreetwire.com. They are reviewed and updated as the site grows; material changes will be noted on this page.
