A new report tracks the number of digital asset millionaires as the market navigates a price correction.
A new report from international residence and citizenship advisory specialists Henley & Partners indicates that crypto wealth has remained resilient despite Bitcoin retreating from its October 2025 peak, as Financial Post first reported. As of August 31, 2026, the global crypto market is valued at USD 2.6 trillion, with USD 1.6 trillion held in Bitcoin.
According to the Crypto Wealth Report 2026, published via Financial Post, there are currently 135,694 crypto millionaires globally, each holding USD 1 million or more in digital assets. Of that group, 92,272 are Bitcoin millionaires. The report also notes there are 23 crypto billionaires (including 9 in Bitcoin) and 290 centi-millionaires who hold at least USD 100 million, with 151 of those concentrated in Bitcoin.
While Bitcoin is currently trading roughly 38% below its 2025 peak, Financial Post reports this is the mildest of the asset's major winters; previous peaks in 2011, 2013, 2017, and 2021 were followed by price cuts exceeding 75%. Despite the market contraction, ownership has broadened, with 742 million individuals now holding digital assets, 371 million of whom hold Bitcoin.
Executives at Henley & Partners suggest this wealth is shifting how investors view geography. Dominic Volek, Group Head of Private Clients, notes that while assets are borderless, owners still operate within national legal and tax systems. Dr. Guenther Dobrauz-Saldapenna, Managing Partner at Henley & Partners Switzerland, adds that self-custodied assets move instantly, increasing the importance of an individual's choice of citizenship and regulatory environment. Additionally, Jack Bernstein, Head of the International Tax Group at Aird & Berlis, observes that the priorities of young crypto wealth creators are shifting from wealth generation toward wealth preservation.
